Group Meditation at Wimbledon Quaker Meeting House - Dates in 2012
This Group has met 6 times in 2011 and been well attended. The meditations are based in the Mindfulness tradition. The Group will continue to meet in 2012 in the Second Tuesday of every month except for April and August at the slightly later time of 7.00-8.30pm. The Meeting House is at 40 Spencer Hill Road, SW20 4EL. All are welcome, but it would be helpful if you could let me know if you are coming.
Gentle Touch Reflexology - November 2010
I recently attended a 1 day course on Gentle Touch Reflexology which I found very interesting as it resonated strongly with many of my own ideas and gave me some new techniques to add to my repertoire.
Thich Nhat Hanh public talk in August 2010
I had the wonderful experience of attending the public talk given by Zen Master, poet and peacemaker Thich Nhat Hanh at the Hammersmith Apollo on 11 August. This is the second talk of his I have attended and it was an evening to be treasured. After some introductory singing and a guided meditation on the breath. Thay talked for about an hour on a number of subjects based around the Noble Eightfold Path. Afterwards he answered questions. The evening inspired me to re-read his classic book The Miracle of Mindfulness. If you are looking for a Meditation group near you following the teachings of Thich Nhat Hahn, visit www.interbeing.org.uk. For a longer retreat consider visiting his community at Plum Village in France www.plumvillage.org.
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction - December 2009
I have just come to the end of an Eight Week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course run by Michael Chaskalson held over four weekends in London. This year I have not managed to go on a Residential Retreat so I choose this course instead as I have read about MBSR and was interested to experience it. The course was most inspiring and re-energised my personal Meditation Practice. For more information on MBSR see the link below.
Advanced Reflexology Techniques - October 2009
I have recently attended a course in Advanced Reflexology Techniques ("ART") which was most interesting and useful. I am incorporating the techniques into my practice and will also be offering shorter, 30 minute, "clinical" treatments for clients with specific disorders. For more information on these see the Booking information.
Public Register of Reflexologists - September 2009
The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) has just opened its register to reflexologists. I along with many other reflexologists have just registered. The aim of the register is to protect the general public so that they can find a reflexologist who has had comprehensive training and is a member of a recognised professional body.Registration with CNHC will demonstrate that registrants have nationally recognised skills and knowledge, and that they are regulated through bona fide codes of conduct.
